After 21 years in the program, and the last 18 as head coach of the boys program at Sacred Heart Cathedral in San Francisco, Jeff Wilson has stepped down.
Wilson led the program to four CCS Championships, including the most recent title this past season after a forfeit by Mt. Pleasant gave the Fightin' Irish the title.
"Not the way I envisioned winning our fourth but I can’t say that it was undeserved for these boys," Wilson posted on social media after the forfeit was announced. "Happy I could go out on top via always doing things the ethical way."
Wilson led the program, which was once the doormat of the WCAL, to 155 wins, and established the Fightin' Irish as a regular CCS participant and a top WCAL level competitor. He also had a record of 18-4-2 in the CCS playoffs.
Wilson will continue coaching as head coach of the City College of San Francisco women's program, which he led to their first ever league championship in 2016. His departure from the WCAL, where he was the longest tenured coach, leaves Serra's Jeff Panos as the current longest tenured head coach.
