Pittsburg hosts traditional Bay Area powers for annual Jamboree

August 15, 2019

Pittsburg will host its annual Powerhouse Jamboree on Friday night, welcoming traditional powers De La Salle and James Logan to Pirate Stadium.

The Pirates and De La Salle both reached the NCS Open Division playoffs last season, while James Logan returned to the playoffs under new coach Ricky Rodriguez. All three teams figure to be in the hunt for league titles this year.

De La Salle defeated Pittsburg in last year's Open Division semifinals, one year after beating the Pirates in the Open Division title game. Pittsburg still advanced to the CIF state bowl series in 2017, defeating Granite Bay to face Narbonne in the CIF 1-A title game. De La Salle has won 27 consecutive NCS championships.

The Varsity action begins at 7 pm.
