University wins fourth straight to open season

December 13, 2019

University-San Francisco got three goals each from freshman Keeley Grove and sophomore Alexa Tabibian as the Red Devils routed Novato on Thursday, 9-1, for their fourth straight win to open the season.

University led just 2-0 at halftime, but exploded with seven second-half goals to win going away. Sophomore Arya Duggal posted a clean sheet in goal during the first half, while junior Annika Kral finished the game in goal for the Red Devils. In addition to the hat tricks for Grove and Tabibian, University got individual goals from junior Leila Sulentic and freshmen Kaitlin Dang and Sophie Nutting.

The Red Devils improved to 4-0 this season, having opened the year with back-to-back shutout victories over St. Joseph Notre Dame and Vintage-Napa. Grove has been a key factor in all four wins, including a hat trick in the win over St. Joe's.

University faces Sacred Heart Cathedral next Friday, Dec. 20, in a battle of San Francisco private school powers.
