Bay Area Softball Top 25 Rankings

Amador Valley and Archbishop Mitty are still the clear class of Bay Area softball as the top 14 teams hold their spots in the rankings as form has generally held in the NCS and CCS playoffs.

These are based on games played through May 24.

Last week’s rankings are in parentheses.

1 (1) Amador Valley 25-0

Johanna Grauer pitched a six-inning no-hitter, struck out 12, and also drove in four runs in a 11-0 win over Castro Valley.

Amador Valley plays rival Foothill in the NCS Division I semifinals. The Dons outscored the Falcons, 22-6, in two regular season wins.

2 (2) Archbishop Mitty 27-1

The Monarchs won their quarterfinal against Capuchino, 8-1, behind a five-hitter from Stephanie Kristo.

Mitty will play WCAL foe Valley Christian in the semifinals. The Monarchs won two of three meetings with the Warriors this season.

3 (3) Alhambra 23-2

The Bulldogs scored 30 runs in two playoff wins to reach the NCS Division II semifinals and will host Livermore on Wednesday.

4 (4) Pioneer 23-4

The Mustangs had a 10-run fourth inning in a 10-3 quarterfinal win against Westmont and will now play Hillsdale in the CCS Division II semifinals.

5 (5) Leland 22-4

The Chargers beat Mountain View, 3-1, to reach the CCS Division I semifinals and will play San Benito.

6 (6) Carlmont 25-3

The Scots hammered Milpitas, 9-4, in the CCS Division I quarterfinals and will now play Wilcox in the semifinals.

7 (7) James Logan 23-2

Allison Pelland scattered nine hits in the Colts' 5-2 quarterfinal win versus San Ramon Valley.

James Logan will host Granada in the NCS Division I semifinals.

8 (8) San Benito 21-3-1

The eight-time champion Haybalers smoked Homestead, 9-0, to reach the CCS Division I semifinals.

9 (9) Notre Dame-Salinas 24-3

The Spirits needed just five innings to dispose of San Lorenzo Valley, 10-0, in the CCS Division III quarterfinals and will now play Soquel.

10 (10) Valley Christian-San Jose 22-7

The Warriors were 7-0 winners over Mills and took a 4-2 contest against Mt. Pleasant to reach the CCS Division II semifinals.

11 (11) Foothill 16-10

The Falcons had to rally for a 8-7 opening-round win versus Dougherty Valley before a 3-1 quarterfinal win at

Heritage to reach the NCS Division I semifinals.

12 (12) Granada 18-8

In the Mats' two playoff wins, Kassidee Rusniak delivered two doubles, a homer, and drove in four runs.

Granada will play at James Logan in the NCS Division I semifinals.

13 (13) *San Ramon Valley 17-9

Before a 5-2 quarterfinal loss to James Logan, the Wolves were a 5-0 winner over San Leandro.

14 (14) Carondelet 14-12

Carondelet has outscored the opposition, 13-4, in two playoff wins and will host Arroyo in the NCS Division II semifinals.

15 (16) Salesian 16-1

Zoe Conley pitched a two-hitter and struck out a dozen as the defending champion Pride beat Berean Christian, 5-1, to reach the NCS Division IV semifinals, where it will host Moreau Catholic.

16 (17) St. Patrick-St. Vincent 22-4

The Bruins blasted Clear Lake, 11-2, to reach the NCS Division IV semifinals and will host Marin Catholic on Wednesday.

17 (15) *Monte Vista 11-12

The Mustangs came up short of the minimum qualifying criteria for the NCS playoffs.

18 (20) Livermore 13-13

Livermore reached .500 with two playoff wins and now look to knock off top-seed Alhambra in the NCS Division II semifinals.

19 (NR) Wilcox 22-7

The Chargers scored 23 runs in two playoff wins, including a 12-7, 11-inning win over Los Altos to reach the CCS Division I semifinals.

20 (24) Hillsdale 21-7

The Knights scored an impressive 11-2 win over Presentation to advance to the CCS Division II semifinals against Pioneer.

21 (18) *Heritage 19-5

The Patriots pounded Berkeley, 11-1, in the first round but the season came to a close with a 3-1 quarterfinal home loss to Foothill.

22 (22) *Los Altos 20-8

The Eagles won their first-round game against Lincoln, 7-2, but were ousted in the CCS Division I quarterfinals by Wilcox.

23 (23) Soquel 22-8

The Knights are in the CCS Division III semifinals against Notre Dame-Salinas after a 10-6 triumph over Scotts Valley.

24 (NR) Half Moon Bay 22-7

The Cougars scored 20 runs in two playoff wins to reach the CCS Division III semifinals. Freshman Ally Sarabia scattered 11 hits in a 8-3 triumph over Notre Dame-Belmont.

25 (NR) Santa Catalina 18-4-1

The top-seeded Cougars beat a good Carmel team, 8-3, to reach the CCS Division III semifinals, where they will meet Half Moon Bay.
