Bishop O’Dowd senior basketball standout Paris Austin has officially committed to Boise State.
Austin is ranked as the No. 1 guard in Northern California according to 247 Sports, and is looking to carry the Dragons toward their first state title since 1981.
Austin had several Division I offers, including Montana, Loyola Marymount, 2014 NIT No. 1 seed Florida State, and 2014 NIT No 5 seed Saint Mary’s College.
O’Dowd, coming off a NorCal Open Division Championship, figures to be even better this season with a college-sized starting lineup including 6-foot-11 power forward Ivan Rabb, who is still uncommitted, and 6-9 forward Isaiah Thomas.
Incidentally, Austin's good friend and O'Dowd classmate Asha Thomas, who will miss the 2014-15 season with an ACL injury, recently committed to the Cal women's team.
Bishop O'Dowd is expected to feature at least four Division I commits between the boys and girls teams, with the big catch being Rabb, who just recently narrowed his college choices to Cal, UCLA, Kansas, Arizona and Kentucky. Rabb has consistently been rated among the top prospects in the 2015 graduating class.
