Donovan Mitchell wasn't quite sure what he was getting into when he signed on to play in the first-ever Prep2Prep California All-Star Classic. But once he learned a little more about the event, he was all in.
"It's a big honor to play in this game - I can't wait," said Mitchell, who is just entering his senior year at Buchanan High in Clovis and will be representing the 2016 NorCal All-Stars on August 30 at Las Positas College in Livermore. "It's going to be a great experience. I think it's going to be a crazy atmosphere and it's going to be one heck of a game to watch."
Mitchell, who led Buchanan in scoring as a junior with over 16 points per game, is a 6-9 forward who plays his AAU ball with Under Armour-sponsored Team Superstar. Among the stops on his team's most recent summer tour was a trip to New York City - "it was just like the movies."
With official signing day just a few months away, Mitchell hopes to make his college commitment final by the end of September. Wake Forest is tops on his list, but he is also considering SMU, Northeastern, Maryland, Utah State, Kansas State and Marquette.
