Aragon scored all 11 runs in the first three innings en route to an 11-0 victory over Christopher in the CCS Division 4 softball championship Saturday at West Valley College. Seniors Rae D’Amato, Caroline Hager and Janelle Lee had two hits apiece as Aragon racked up 10 hits in the shortened five-inning game.
The Dons qualified for the NorCal playoffs and were slotted to play Tuesday in the Division 5 quarterfinals, but they declined the invitation. Had Aragon participated and won its first-round game, the semifinals would have been on the same day as the school’s graduation. Instead, Christopher will take the No. 3 seed and host Lowell-San Francisco Tuesday.
The Dons reached the title game with wins over Mills and Los Altos. D’Amato hit a two-run HR in the 6-2 win over Mills and sophomore Destiny Garcia homered and senior Are Makropoulos had three hits and scored two runs in the 6-3 win over Los Altos.
Christopher gets to extend its season after falling short in the CCS title game. The Cougars reached the championship game with wins over Notre Dame-San Jose and Cupertino. Alyssa Farrow had two hits and two RBIs in the 4-2 win over Notre Dame. Christopher erupted for seven runs in the sixth inning to down Cupertino 11-4. Zoe Griffin led the way with two hits, two runs scored and three RBIs.
