On a night when blowouts were the norm for Colorado’s top-10 big school teams in both girls and boys basketball, the Rangeview boys were tested at home by George Washington.

Top-ranked Rangeview managed to hold off the Patriots 72-65 Friday during a long fourth quarter in which the teams combined to score 59 points. The Raiders remained unbeaten, improving to 11-0.

Rangeview opened up a 17 point lead at one point in the fourth quarter before George Washington began to whittle it back down, but the Patriots ran out of time. Senior Tyrei Randall led Rangeview with 23 points, junior guard Elijah Blake scored 19 and senior Elijah Reed finished with 14.

No. 2 Eaglecrest beat Cherry Creek in the only other close game of the night among the top teams in the state’s largest classification. Junior guard Colbey Ross scored 19 to lead Eaglecrest.
