The third time wasn’t the charm for Foothills Christian this season.
Chino Hills proved to be too tough, yet again, for one of California’s other premier teams.
Before a sold out crowd at Colony High (Ontario), Prep2Prep’s No. 1 team breezed by Foothills Christian 82-62 on Tuesday night.
UCLA-bound guard Lonzo Ball scored 23 points but struggled with his shot. Eli Scott contributed with 19 points for the Huskies.
Ball’s future UCLA teammate, T.J. Leaf finished with 36 points in the loss.
"He's the best player I've played against this season," Onyeka Okongwu said, per the L.A. Times.
Okongwu guarded Leaf for much of the night and the freshman did an impressive job. The 6-foot-9 forward is the man in the middle for Chino Hills and he grabbed 11 rebounds to go with 19 points in the win.
Chino Hills win now face Bishop Montgomery in a much anticipated rematch. The Huskies handed Bishop Montgomery its first loss, 71-67, earlier in the season.
Bishop Montgomery beat Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) 72-56 to advance to the Southern California Open Division final.
David Singleton had a team high 24 points in the win. Jordan Schakel added 21.
Chino Hills vs. Bishop Montgomery will tip off Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at the Pyramid in Long Beach.
