CCS Senior of the Year
FRANKIE FERRARI, G, BURLINGAME

Frankie Ferrari has had an unbelievable year with the Burlingame Panthers, fighting through injuries, racking up hundreds of points, breaking school records and having left an indelible mark in high school basketball in the Bay Area.

As he looks forward to his future with the University of San Francisco Dons, he can’t help but remember his stunning senior season under coach Pete Harames.

“I kind of wish we advanced a bit further in the state tournament," Ferrari said, "but we had a good time and a good year."

Although Ferrari doesn’t have a specific favorite moment from the season, there are many to choose from. After losing to Riordan in the opening round of the Central Coast Section Open Division and Ferrari getting injured in the third period, the Panthers’ morale was at its lowest.

In the next game, despite not feeling 100 percent, Ferrari stunned the Leigh Longhorns by scoring 46 points. In that same game, he tied the single-game school record for most made field goals (15) and broke the record for steals in a game (8).

For all of his accomplishments, Ferrari is the Prep2Prep Central Coast Section Senior of the Year.

Another memorable postseason Ferrari moment occurred when he led his team past the Mills Vikings in the Peninsula Athletic League Championship. In that game, he went 5-for-11 from beyond the arc and 7-for-7 at the free throw line en route to a 28-point performance.

These two particular games helped Ferrari reach new heights and solidify his legacy as a Panther. While one particular moment may not stand out in Ferrari’s mind, he is proud of the way he and his team played during the season.

“I thought we [our team] had a great time,” Ferrari said. “It made my senior year something I’ll never forget.”

Ferrari’s greatest attribute is that he is constantly looking to improve. Despite scoring 29 points in the second round of the state tournament and shattering schools records in regular season points, field goals and assists, he still looks to improve before he competes against Division I athletes.

“I just need to work on all aspects,” Ferrari said. “Getting stronger, getting quicker is important because players are more athletic at the next level. It’s a whole different game; I’ve just got to adjust myself.”
