Pearland senior pitcher Alyssa Denham pitched a shutout and came up with a critical two-run double in the seventh inning to lift the Lady Oilers to a 4-0 win over Weslaco during the 6A state semifinals at McCombs Field in Austin on Friday night.
The victory returns the Oilers to the state title game for the first since 2010. Pearland (32-6-1) will take on Keller (30-8) on Saturday afternoon in the state championship game.
Friday's win continued a magical porstseason run for the Oilers, who have knocked off several highly-ranked opponents, including No. 1 Deer Park, along the way.
The last time the Oilers advanced to the title game, they defeated Austin Bowie, 5-0, in the 5A state championship game.
