NAPA, CA - Vintage defeated Napa 61-57 on Friday night in an MEL basketball game.
Vintage led 12-9 after one quarter, Napa led 28-25 after two quarters and trailed 46-34 after three quarters.
The play that changed this one was with three minutes and eight seconds in the third quarter when Ian Miller of Vintage threw down a fierce slam dunk to make the Vintage players, and fans go nuts. Suddenly Vintage was energized, now up 39-28.
Napa was led by senior Tom Salsman who had 24 points along with 10 rebounds, and Cal Bard who had 15 points. Also contributing for the Indians were Brenden Peterson who had eight, and Colton Forster with six.
"I think he was really committed to rebounding tonight, and then offensively they made a few adjustments, but that didn’t really take him out of our offense," Napa coach Scott Bard said.
Vintage was led by Connor Bacci who had 17 points, Ian Miller who added 14, and Garrett Erickson who had 11.
Said Vintage coach Ted Ward of Miller: "He’s a huge help he rebounds really well, he sees the ball well, he shoots well, he can score inside and out," Vintage coach Ted Ward said.
Napa visits Wood on Tuesday. Vintage hosts Armijo.
