Saratoga High has picked Patrick Judge as its new boys’ basketball coach, according to an athletic department tweet tonight.
Judge was the coach at Leigh for seven seasons, including 2014 when his team went 14-0 and won the BVAL-Mt. Hamilton.
Leigh went 3-11 in league the last two seasons, but did reach the semifinals of the CCS Division II playoffs in 2015-2016, losing to Leland by one point.
Judge's teams usually favor a running game with a heavy dose of 3-point shots.
Judge was named the San Jose Mercury coach of the year in 2011, led the Longhorns to the CCS quarterfinals twice and the semis three times.
Leigh made the Open playoffs in 2014, but fell to eventual champion Serra. The Longhorns advanced to the NorCal playoffs and became the only Leigh team to ever win a NorCal regional game.
