NorCal weekend rewind: Quick hits from around the region

November 28, 2016

It was a busy weekend across Northern California, so with section championships being settled, and bowl implications starting to arise, we decided to try and give you the most information we could from the entire region, as fast as we possibly could.

NCS Highlights

- St. Patrick-St. Vincent became the first five seed to advance to a section championship game since Saint Mary's won the Division 4 title in 2013. Marshel Martin ran for 256 yards as the Bruins prevented Berean Christian from reaching its second straight championship game.

With the win, SPSV advances to face Fort Bragg, which downed Kelseyville for the second time this season. The game also brought to an end the storied high school career of Berean Christian receiver Isaiah Hodgins, who is committed to Oregon State.

The two semifinal games in the Division 3 bracket were each decided by less than a touchdown, and as thrilling as the Marin Catholic victory was, it couldn't beat the late-game drama at Bishop O'Dowd, where the Dragons rallied from a late 34-27 deficit, and won the game on Trey Miller's 42-yard field goal with three seconds remaining.
