On Episode 6 of Between The Lines: TMP Football, the Thomas More Prep-Marian football team opens the season with a trip to Ellinwood to take on the Eagles. But before the Monarchs get on the bus for the two-hour ride to Ellinwood, they get together for a Friday morning mass in Hays.
The Monarchs dominate the game from the start as junior running back Nick Schmidt scores the first touchdown of the season. Sophomore TJ Flax provides a spectacular 58-yard TD run and new kicker Jack Yu, a student from Korea, converts on all three of his extra-point attempts along with a 35-yard field goal.
With the season fully underway, the Monarchs are able to reflect on all the hard work that took place to set up this triumphant moment.
