Hofmann, Tevis, Lloyd recognized with top PAL football awards

December 11, 2017

The Peninsula Athletic League released its all-league football teams for the 2017 season, with Half Moon Bay's Chase Hofmann, Menlo's JH Tevis, and Carlmont's Jason Lloyd named as the Most Valuable Player for their respective divisions.

Hofmann was named MVP of the elite Bay Division, after leading the Cougars to league and section titles. The senior has led Half Moon Bay to a CIF title game this coming weekend, beating Terra Nova for the CCS Open III title, and then knocking off Sutter in a CIF North regional game. He has 1,212 yards and 36 touchdowns on the ground through 14 games, to go with 232 yards and two scores through the air.

The senior standout also leads HMB in tackles with 87, and a team-high 11 tackles for loss.

Tevis was named MVP of the Ocean Division, leading the Knights to a first-place finish in league play, and a berth in the CCS Division V championship game. The Cal commit had 79 tackles, including 32 tackles for a loss, and 14 sacks this season. That gives him 105 tackles for a loss and 51 sacks over the last three years.

Lloyd was named MVP of the Lake Division, as a dominant force for the Scots. The elite tight end was also a force at outside linebacker, with 82 tackles and 18 sacks, and a primary reason why Carlmont surged to a 8-2 record this season.
