Holloway hoping for big senior season

March 25, 2015

CUPERTINO, CA -- Jerome Holloway, at 6-foot, 185 pounds, is arguably one of the better quarterbacks in the Central Coast Section. In the two seasons Holloway has led the team to an overall record of 16-5.

Last season Holloway passed for more than 900 yards, throwing 12 touchdowns.

“We don’t throw the ball very often," Holloway said. "I try to make every throw as crisp and precise as I can. Having an amazing [offensive] line makes throwing the ball easy.”

As Holloway enters his senior season, his play has attracted the attention of some colleges. Over summer Holloway plans to take some visits to check out some of those suitors.

Last season Holloway was named the SCVAL most valuable player. One of his bigger games came against previously unbeaten Fremont in a 58-24 Homestead win. The Mustang 11th grader threw for two touchdowns and ran for two in the blowout.

“My mobility (and ability to) expand plays when they don’t go the way we want them to (helps me)," Holloway said.

As Homestead prepares to attend the University of Pacific football camp this summer, Holloway is excited to see “How we do against challenging opponents.”

Off the field, the Homestead star spends most of his time with his teammates when he's not with his family.

"We have to keep the group together to create a sense of team chemistry on and off the field," Holloway said.

Said Homestead coach Milo Lewis of Holloway: "(He's) the most athletic player to come through our program in a long time.”
