Antelope's Collier-Simonton earns top sophomore lineman honors at Showcase

November 30, 2020

To some athletes, football is how it seems; a sport played to stay in shape, make friendships, and compete day in and day out. But for a select few who have ambitions to dedicate their life to the craft, it means much more.

“This is much more than a game for me but a way of life I have a passion and love for," explained Antelope lineman Zaire Collier-Simonton. "Since I've been playing it has opened many doors for both me and my family. The amazing thing is that I'm just beginning. If there is a season I just want to prove I'm one of the best in the state for my class and position.”

Collier-Simonton’s ambition showed at the National Preps Collegiate Showcase on November 21, as the sophomore lineman came home named the top lineman from the Class of 2023 at the event. While Zaire has large aspirations for his football career, these aspirations are backed up by his work ethic and continuous drive for success.

“My family and my goals are always keeping me motivated. My whole goal is to play at the next level so every discussion and action I make is working towards that,” said Collier-Simonton. “I've mainly been working on my lateral movement and flexibility. Just being able to move quickly with power at my size is key. This upcoming season I plan on having a breakout year.”

Collier-Simonton isn’t the only one who believes in his future, as 247Sports National Recruiting Director Brandon Huffman also has high praise for the young lineman.

"Zaire has a chance to be a special player in the 2023 class,” said Huffman. “He's got tremendous strength, very good agility for his size, nimble feet and technique that will make him a superb interior offensive lineman."

No matter what is ahead in Collier Simonton's football career, there is no doubt his high motor and dedication to the game will get him far.
