"Pac-12 guy" Bailey earns MVP honors at National Preps Showcase

November 30, 2020

Many athletes are forced to face the sad reality that their athletic career is over after their last high school game. Fortunately for Benicia defensive end Miles Bailey, high school is just the beginning.

“I’m a big fan of Miles Bailey. I think he’ll ultimately be a Pac-12 guy,” said 247Sports National Recruiting Director Brandon Huffman. “I think he’s still raw, but upside is off the charts.”

Bailey proved why he should get a shot at playing on Saturdays, coming home with Co-Defensive Line MVP honors along with St. Mary’s High School's Jahzon Jacks, at the National Preps Collegiate Showcase November 21.

“I went to the showcase to show my talents and to get better than I was the day before,” commented Bailey on his motivation to attend the event at Vacaville Christian High School. “I wanted to work on my craft, and prove that I’ve been working over this pandemic. I’m not just laying around, and when the season starts, it’s going to be a movie.”

Bailey wasn't the only Benicia Panther recognized for their performance at the event, as fellow defensive playmaker Croix Stewart was also acknowledged as Testing MVP of the showcase. Miles takes pride in being able to represent Benicia with his teammate at the camp.

“It was a huge accomplishment knowing that not too many people know about Benicia High School,” explained Bailey. “Just putting the school on the map a little bit is huge for the program and for us personally”

Bailey is motivated to defend the Panthers Diablo-Valley League title from a year ago, in which Benicia went 6-0 in league play. The junior defensive end is driven to improve his game on the road to D1 football.

“My main motivation has just been trying to make a name for myself and getting to the next level," said Bailey. "Perfecting my craft, being the best I can be, and trusting the process is where I’m at right now.”
