Live Oak built a seven-run lead in the middle innings and cruised to a 13-6 win over BVAL-MH rival Leigh to win the CCS Division 3 softball title Saturday at West Valley College in Saratoga.
It was the third meeting between the two teams this season with Live Oak winning all three and putting up double-digit run totals each time. Freshman Adia Seidler and sophomore CC Garcia sparked a 16-hit attack with three hits apiece and junior Julianna Altamirano went the distance to pick up the victory. Senior Maddie Oliver drove in three runs for the Longhorns, who finished the season 17-10.
Live Oak, which moves on to the CIF NorCal Division 4 playoffs as the No. 3 seed and will host Amador Tuesday, reached the CCS final by scoring double-digit runs in both playoff games, including a 12-3 win over Capuchino in the semifinals. In that game, the Acorns trailed 3-1 before exploding for 11 runs in the sixth inning led again by Seider, who went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs and three RBIs.
Leigh reached the final with a 10-3 win over Milpitas, scoring six runs in the first inning. Oliver had two hits and three RBIs and freshman Prestley Mueller went 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
