Alisal won the first CCS softball title in school history Saturday, defeating Hillsdale 4-2 at San Jose City College to capture the Division 2 championship. Abigail Walker went the distance for the Trojans, allowing just four hits and striking out nine with no walks.
Chloe Ruvalcaba led the attack, going 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in the fourth inning that put Alisal (20-5) up for good. Hillsdale, which finished the season 19-10, got a two-run homer from junior Lola Jones to take a 2-1 lead in the third.
The Trojans, who will host Newark Memorial Tuesday in the first round of the NorCal Division 4 playoffs, reached the CCS final with wins over Piedmont Hills and Aptos. Walker tossed a two-hit shutout with no walks in a 2-0 win over Aptos in the semifinal.
Hillsdale knocked off PAL-Bay rival San Mateo 8-4 in the other semifinal, after the two teams tied for the regular-season league title. Hillsdale trailed 4-3 before scoring five runs in the fifth inning to take command. Sophomore Guiliana Brum went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI and senior Mia DeMartini went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs.
