Los Angeles City Section Division III Playoff Preview

November 10, 2016

LA City Section Division I

LA City Section Division II

LA City Section Division III

Franklin didn’t quite look the part earlier in the season, but they pulled it together later on. Mario Bobadilla has a game-changing arm, and can carry the Panthers far into the playoffs. While they are strong in the air, Reseda is as dangerous on the ground. Their three back formations are frightening, and have run wild over may a team this year.

Outside of the top two, Chavez, Torres, and Hollywood are all dangerous. The three are big, physical, and play tough defense. Torres held Franklin to their lowest point total of the season. The other two are equally damaging, and could knock off some good teams.

Players to Watch:

Franklin: QB Mario Bobadilla, QB WR David Telles, LB Erick Nolasco

Reseda: WR Michael Martin III, LB Carlos Hernandez, TE Uriel Mejia

Torres: RB Ted Gilmore, QB Robbie Francisco, WR/DE Andre Greer

Chavez: QB Luis Velasquez, QB/TE Matthew Barton, MLB Diego Sanchez

Manual Arts: QB Darion Turner, LB Arron Castillo, RB Thomas Whitehead

Hollywood: QB Ray Hardy, WR Surmier Cunningham, LB Christopher Ancheta

West Adams: QB Fajari Bryant, DL Olandston Skeet, RB Shawn Prejean

Kennedy: QB/DB Giovanni Maffei, LB Kevin Pham, DE/TE Erick Santos

Belmont: RB Isaiah Chatman, DE Najee Singleton, LB Derrick Phelps

North Hollywood: QB Nicholas Arredondo, RB Austin Villareal, WR/DB Michael Blackson

Wilson: QB Isaac Abdullah, LB/TE Gabriel Herrera, RB/DE Daniel Pelayo

Marquez: QB Juan Hernandez, WR Angel Lopez, LB Fabian Garcia

Angelou: QB Krystian Davis, RB Leonard Santos, MLB Rigoberto Berris

Marshall: QB Daniel Soto, RB Johnny Hernandez, DE Johnny Almendara

Monroe: QB Kam Lord, WR AJ Senegal, RB Armando Choy

Sleeper Team: Manual Arts could cause some damage from the 5th seed. They play in a league with Los Angeles and Hawkins, and therefore struggle a lot. When they play teams within their division, they are a force. They average 201 rushing yards per game and have a big offensive line. Defense has been an issue, but they have forced a lot of fumbles and picked off their fair share of passes.

Title game prediction: Franklin over Torres
