Oxnard Pacifica is at the head of the Division 7 bracket, but the Pacific View League champion faces plenty of worthy competition in the first season of revamped CIF-Southern Section divisions. At the other end of the bracket in the second seed is El Segundo, which enters the postseason with a 9-1 record. Tustin will look to make some noise as well, with a first-round matchup against at-large selection Huntington Beach. Notre Vista, with an 8-2 mark, faces off with Diamond Ranch, while North Torrance will play host to St. Margaret’s Episcopal. A toss-up is set between Monrovia and St. Paul, while Ayala faces Golden Valley. Simply put, there’s plenty of room for surprise in this division.
Players to Watch:

Norte Vista: RB Eric Melesio, QB Isaiah Hughes, WR Adam Garcia
Diamond Ranch: QB Justin Tong, WR Trey Green, RB Connor Clark
San Gorgonio: RB Kaleb Hayes, RB Dezhon Williams, WR Tyreque Jones
South Hills: QB Christian Martinez, WR Tahron Tolbert, WR Nicholas Lariviere
Tustin: RB KC Carr, QB Sagel Simon, C Ben Escobedo
Huntington Beach: RB/DE Derek Thomas, QB Nick Welch, WR Carson Contreras
Ayala: QB Cole McCain, RB Mason Hura, CB Emmanuel Flowers
Golden Valley: QB Josh Valano, RB KJ Maduike, WR Jalin Lewis
El Segundo: RB Taz Tauaese, WR Haamid Brooks Jr., QB Kobee Malaki Lagarde
Canyon: RB Cole Nequette, WR Connor Dunn, LB Dylan Porter
Sleeper team: Canyon doesn’t have the most appealing regular season record, but records can be deceiving. The Comanches suffered three of their losses in the first three weekends of the season, and went 4-3 from there on out. They’ll rely on their defense, which allowed just 221 points over 10 games. The postseason is ripe for an upset, and Canyon could be the one causing them.
Predicted title outcome: Pacifica over El Segundo
